Bathroom Remodeling for Marlboro Homeowners

Marlboro is a township, not a town. There is no village hall and no city sewer under most of it. Homes sit on big lots along State Route 619 and State Route 44, the two roads that cross at the light by Marlboro Elementary. A fifth of the houses here were standing before 1940. Another two fifths went up between 1950 and 1979. Those are the bathrooms we get called about most.

The old ones have the original cast iron drain lines and a tub that has been there since the house was built. The ranches from the sixties and seventies have one full bath for the whole family, a fiberglass surround, and a floor that has been wet under the tile for longer than anyone knows. We open a lot of those up and find the subfloor needs to go. We plan for that before demo instead of finding it on day two and stopping to write a change order.

Joseph Evans runs every bathroom job himself. He is in Uniontown, one township over, so a Marlboro home is a short drive down 619 through Hartville. The first step is a fifteen to thirty minute phone call. You tell him about the room, he tells you the range, and only then does anyone drive out.

Client Reviews

What Northeast Ohio Homeowners Say

"I truly wish I could give this young man 100 stars. He is VERY dedicated to doing the job right. I could tell from day one that he treated this room in my home like it was in his own home. My husband and I have been do it ourself people for over twenty years. He is 100% disabled now but Joe took the time to listen and do exactly what I asked of him. My husband's smile when he saw the room finished was a true blessing. Thank you for the great job you did on this half bath that will now serve as bathroom and first floor laundry. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!"

Julie Perry

"Joe with Redeemed Contracting recently completed a remodel of our very outdated master bath. We were very impressed from the start - Joe met with us to hear our ideas, formulated a plan and presented a very reasonable quote. He was very responsive to any questions and ideas and had great communication throughout the project. We are thrilled with Joe's work and the end result, and will use Redeemed again. We highly recommend Joe and his team at Redeemed Contracting!"

Sue Serbin

What a Marlboro bathroom runs into

On a septic lot, and most of Marlboro is on septic, moving a toilet or adding a second bath means knowing where the tank and the leach field sit before we cut concrete. That is a five minute check that saves a ruined week. In the pre-war houses near the crossroads the bathroom was added after the house was built, so it is small, the drain runs the long way, and the floor is not level. We build a tile shower with a Schluter waterproofing system under it on those floors because a shower pan that moves is a shower that leaks. In the seventies ranches the question is usually whether to keep the tub. If it is the only full bath, keep it. If the master has a tub nobody has used since the kids left, that space is better as a bigger tile shower with a bench.
