Bathroom Remodeling for Jackson Township Homeowners
Jackson Township is the biggest township in Stark County and the newest big one. Three quarters of its houses went up in 1970 or later, most of them in the eighties and nineties two-story subdivisions that filled in between Belden Village and Jackson High School on Fulton Drive. Township addresses read Canton, Massillon or North Canton depending on the post office, but if your street is between Whipple Avenue and Wales Avenue, you are in the township and this page is yours.
The bathroom in one of those two-stories is a known quantity. Master bath: garden tub in the corner, a small tiled or fiberglass shower beside it, oak double vanity, brass fixtures, a floor that was builder-grade the day it went in. Hall bath: a tub-and-surround the kids outgrew. Everything in both rooms is the same age, which is why they get done together. The fifties and sixties ranches on the Canton and Massillon edges are the older story, one full bath, cast iron tub, a floor that has been damp under the tile for a long time.
Joseph Evans does the work himself from the shop in Uniontown, down Cleveland Avenue and across on Portage Street. The first step is a fifteen to thirty minute phone call that ends with a real range.

"I truly wish I could give this young man 100 stars. He is VERY dedicated to doing the job right. I could tell from day one that he treated this room in my home like it was in his own home. My husband and I have been do it ourself people for over twenty years. He is 100% disabled now but Joe took the time to listen and do exactly what I asked of him. My husband's smile when he saw the room finished was a true blessing. Thank you for the great job you did on this half bath that will now serve as bathroom and first floor laundry. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!"

"Joe with Redeemed Contracting recently completed a remodel of our very outdated master bath. We were very impressed from the start - Joe met with us to hear our ideas, formulated a plan and presented a very reasonable quote. He was very responsive to any questions and ideas and had great communication throughout the project. We are thrilled with Joe's work and the end result, and will use Redeemed again. We highly recommend Joe and his team at Redeemed Contracting!"

What a Jackson Township bathroom runs into
The garden tub, first, because it is in almost every master bath in the township and almost nobody uses it. It comes out, and a tile shower on a Schluter waterproofing system goes into its footprint with a bench and a niche, which keeps the drain where it is and puts the money in the part you use every day. The small existing shower becomes storage or gets folded into the new one. The floor comes up, because under eighties tile the subfloor was rarely sealed. Most of the township is on county water and sewer, so fixtures are a straight choice and there is no septic question on where a drain can run; on the western lots toward Wales Avenue that are on a well and septic, both come up on the call. In the fifties ranches on the edges it is the older job: a cast iron tub worth reglazing, a drain that may have to move, a floor that is not level.
Common Questions
Bathroom Remodeling Questions from Jackson Township Homeowners
Straightforward answers to what homeowners in the Jackson Township area ask us most often.
Tile or surround, heated floor, glass door, vanity. In an eighties or nineties master bath the layout almost always stays, which holds the job below the top tier even when every finish is replaced. Range on the phone first. The tiers are on our bathroom remodeling page.
We do. The township is unincorporated, so plumbing and electrical go through the Stark County Building Department at 7235 Whipple Avenue NW, right on the Belden Village side, after a zoning check with the township. We file it and meet the inspector, and licensed tradesmen do the plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
Moving plumbing, if it moves. In most Jackson Township master baths it does not need to: the garden tub comes out and the shower goes where it was. When the layout stays, tile is the biggest line, and it is the one that lasts.
In a master bath, almost never. If you actually want a tub, a freestanding soaking tub replaces it and looks like it belongs. The hall tub stays if there are kids or it is the only tub in the house.
Mostly not. Three quarters of the township was built after 1970. The typical bath is a builder original from 1988 or 1996 with every finish still in it, which is a cleaner job than a farmhouse bath. The fifties ranches on the Canton and Massillon edges are the exception, and we plan for those differently.
About a week for a tub-to-shower conversion, longer for a full remodel, with the schedule in your hand before we start and the county inspection built into it. Everything is on hand before demo.
The call is. Fifteen to thirty minutes, ending with a range. If it fits, we book a visit and tell you the consultation fee first. On a Jackson Township call we ask which side of the township you are on, because the western lots can be on a well and septic and the rest is not.
A bathroom is often the first room a Jackson Township homeowner calls about. We also do kitchen remodeling in Jackson Township, basement finishing in Jackson Township, and home additions in Jackson Township.
Everything we do in a bathroom, with the price tiers, is on the main bathroom remodeling page. The full list of towns and townships we work in is on the service areas page.
